As a Rhode Island homeowner and taxpayer, I have become more and more upset with property tax increases I have received when I know other folks and big businesses get lower tax bills. This makes no sense to me and I feel it is very unfair, especially to the elderly, long term homeowners on fixed incomes.

We heard Dr. Harvey Waxman of R.I.G.H.T. give a presentation that makes sense. We need an overhaul of this outdated system along with any necessary changes to the General Laws.

I urge you to seriously consider the new property tax proposal drafted as legislation by Rep. John Loughlin II of Portsmouth, Tiverton, Little Compton and more recently by Rep. Ken Carter of N. Kingstown, based on R.I.G.H.T.'s principles.

Please help us keep our homes.
